NCAR Journalism Fellowship

NCAR Journalism Fellowship

The sixth annual National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Journalism Fellowship will run from July 8 – 12, 2013. The fellowship provides journalists with a rare opportunity to learn about cutting-edge atmospheric research and its implications for society.

Journalism fellows will gain access to leading scientists who study severe weather, climate change, and air quality, as well the influence of the atmosphere on renewable energy technologies, disease outbreaks, aviation safety, and wildfires. The program will provide opportunities for one-on-one interviews and potential stories about new research developments, as well as offering scientific presentations, laboratory visits, and a first-hand look at research tools and facilities.

Our program is a five-day, residential experience open to professional reporters, editors, and producers working for print, broadcast, and online media. NCAR will cover costs including airfare, hotel, and transport to-from the Denver Airport and Boulder for the selected NCAR Journalism Fellows. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of writing, editing, or producing experience for a general-interest audience or for more specialized science, business, or political audiences.
