Andrew Africk joined Apollo Global Management LLC in 1992 and is a senior partner of the firm.  Founded in 1990, Apollo is a leading global alternative asset manager with a long record of successful private equity and credit oriented capital markets investing.  Apollo currently has assets under management exceeding US $100 billion and has offices in New York, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Luxembourg, Mumbai, Singapore and Hong Kong.  Apollo owns controlling interests in global companies in many industries including chemicals, transportation, hospitality, metals and satellite communications.

Mr. Africk is responsible for Apollo’s investments in technology and communications.  Mr. Africk led Apollo’s purchase of Intelsat Ltd. and served as Vice Chairman while building Intelsat into the largest commercial satellite services provider in the world with a fleet of 53 geosynchronous satellites serving 200 countries.  Mr. Africk also led Apollo’s purchase of Hughes Communications, Inc., the world leader in satellite VSAT technology.  Apollo has successfully invested in and helped build semiconductor, mobile media and telematics companies.

Mr. Africk serves on the UCLA Science Board and on the Advisory Council of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.  Mr. Africk graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA with a BA in Economics, Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School with a JD, and with Distinction from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with an MBA.
