Ray Ban, an AMS Member, a Fellow of the AMS, and a holder of the AMS Broadcast Seal of Approval for both radio and television, is President of Ban and Associates in Marietta, Georgia. Ban and Associates provides consultative services to the weather media industry. Mr. Ban also is a guest lecturer in the Meteorology Department at the Pennsylvania State University where he teaches one month each semester in the Weather Communications Program. Mr. Ban is retired Executive Vice President of Programming, Operations and Meteorology at The Weather Channel.

Most recently, he served as Consultant for Weather Industry and Government Partnerships, responsible for growing TWC relationships with the atmospheric science community across the entire weather and climate enterprise. Mr. Ban has been associated with TWC for 30 years and is considered one of the founding members of the TWC team. He served as an on-camera meteorologist in the early years, took over responsibility for the on-camera meteorologists in 1985, and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 1988, heading up production and all meteorology activities. In 1996 Mr. Ban became Senior Vice President and was a key member of the business development team that established TWC International business in Germany, Great Britain and South America. In 2000, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and added responsibility for all programming and operations of the TWC video network in 2008. Mr. Ban was a member of the senior leadership team that grew TWC from a modest cable television network into a top, multi-platform media brand. In the community, Mr. Ban has been an active member of the AMS since the mid 1970's. 

He graduated from Penn State University in 1973 with a degree in meteorology.
