The Climate and Global Dynamics (CGD) Laboratory is one of eight labs that make up the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). CGD conducts directed research that discovers the key processes in each component of the Earth’s climate system and the interactions among them. CGD representation of this understanding frequently includes models and thereby provides a basis for prediction of climate; and applies this understanding and these models to scientific problems of societal relevance. CGD fulfills the mission through a strong record of achievement in scientific research, community modeling and data set development. CGD is vital to the overall success of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and the lab helps contribute knowledge to the scientific and civilian communities alike, helping progress the ever-changing dynamics of the Earth's climate system.
