This page is for participants of the 2018 GEO REU Workshop whose travel is covered by NCAR funds.
To assist us with travel planning for participants, please register for the workshop as soon as you are able. This will provide us with information on whether you need a hotel room and local shuttle transportation. Please select the “Participant supported by NCAR” option. This means that your travel is covered by NCAR funds, such as your REU award. There is a $30 registration fee to help offset workshop costs. You will be able to get a receipt immediately upon payment.

Timing of the Workshop
Arrival: Please plan to be here in Boulder by the evening of Thursday, Sept. 13th, unless you want to attend the Thursday Pre-workshop on key elements of running an REU, in which case, please arrive on the evening of Wed., Sept.12th.
Departure: The workshop goes until 8:30 PM Saturday evening, so go ahead and plan to depart on Sunday morning, Sept. 16th. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Booking a Flight to Denver
If you are flying to Denver, go ahead and purchase the ticket if it is less than $500. If the price exceeds $500, please contact me for approval. If you are coming from Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, or College Station, PA, you may spend up to $800. Alternatively, I can book your airfare for you, using NCAR funds. Flight Reimbursement: Once you have booked and paid for your flight, please email me a copy of your receipt so that we may reimburse you. If you are adding personal days to your trip, please also send over a screenshot of an airfare without those personal days as we will need it for your expense report.
Booking a hotel room
Please complete the workshop registration to register with us that you need a hotel room. We have blocks of rooms at three hotels, including the Residence Inn Center Green, the Courtyard Marriott, and the Boulder Inn.
Shuttles Between the Hotels and NCAR’s Mesa Lab
In order to use the shuttle to and from NCAR, you must stay at one of these hotels. If you opt to stay at a different hotel, you will be responsible for your own transportation to the NCAR Mesa Lab on Table Mesa Drive. Rental cars and taxis will not be reimbursed.

To reserve a seat on the shuttle from the Denver airport (DEN) to Boulder, please use this link below, which was customized for this workshop. Please do not use the link that you would find on the web.

There is also the RTD “AB” bus from the airport to Boulder for $9 each way. Buses run every hour.
Meals
Lunch on Friday and Saturday and dinner on Saturday will be provided. Other than those meals, no per diem will be provided. Thursday workshop participants will be responsible for covering their own meal at the cafeteria.
Travel advances
If you need a travel advance to help with expenses, we can advance your airfare to you no more than 2 weeks prior to 13 SEP. If you would like a check, please provide me with your snail mail address. If you’d like funds electronically transferred please fill out the attached form.
