Mayo is a computational mathematician with expertise in the development and application of numerical hydrodynamic models for coastal hazards. She specializes in hurricane storm surge modeling, including the investigation of climate change impacts on coastal flood risk.
Merchant's areas of interest are environment impact and ecosystem health assessment. She has a passion for working with students and has conducted a program for high schoolers interested in remote sensing every year since 2014. A total of 200 students have participated.
Santiago’s research focuses on the development of technologies to treat surface, ground, and reclaimed water. She is passionate about providing experiential learning opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students with a focus on Hispanic and female students.
