Jeff Weber is a project manager in the NSF NCAR Collaborative Opportunities for Research Engagement (CORE) Office with a joint appointment with the Education, Engagement & Early Career Development (EdEC) program. Jeff joined UCAR in 1998 as a scientist, where his areas of expertise included data delivery, cloud implementation, data visualization, extreme weather case studies, and community engagement. Jeff also worked for NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),the National Snow and Ice Data Center, and the Cooperative Institute for Research In Environmental Sciences at University of Colorado Boulder.
Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in international finance and accounting and his master’s in arctic climate and remote sensing, both at the University of Colorado Boulder. He helped deploy meteorological towers on the Greenland ice sheet to evaluate the changing climate and measure surface parameters to calibrate NASA satellites as part of his graduate field work, which was funded by NASA as part of the Program for Arctic Regional Climate Assessment project.
Jeff continues to work with emerging research institutions and collaborate with tribal colleges and universities on data sovereignty and data governance topics. Jeff’s scientific interests are arctic climate, tropical meteorology, hydrology and extreme weather events. In his spare time Jeff enjoys playing and listening to music, hiking, skiing, biking and any other outdoor activity.
